Lydia Atkins

Director

Lydia joined Auroraflow in 2023 as Spa Coordinator and became Director in 2024. She is passionate about making wellness, rest, and healing more accessible and is committed to challenging oppressive barriers within the wellness industry. Whether chatting with clients, brainstorming with teammates, or connecting with neighbors, Lydia is always exploring emerging possibilities for care rooted in reciprocity, creativity, and equity.

She graduated from New College at the University of Alabama with an interdisciplinary depth study, an experience that continues to inform her Deep Ecology approach to change, community well-being, and organizational leadership. Living with hypermobility and navigating postpartum body changes has deepened Lydia's belief in collaborative, community-based care.

Through learning from Auroraflow's therapists as both a client and team member, training with Cam and Whit at Radical Movement, and working with pelvic floor physical therapist Dr. Bridget Ochuko, PT, DPT, MPH —all on the same block— she has experienced firsthand how a trusted network of local practitioners can support lasting health, resilience, and healing.

Beyond her role at Auroraflow, Lydia is a Restorative Yoga Practitioner who creates rest-centered experiences that support people navigating life transitions, burnout, anxiety, and grief. She loves a cozy rest nest. She is continually inspired by Durham—a city where movements for justice, mutual aid, and healing have long shaped what community care can look like for us all.

Outside of work, she's a proud, fierce mama, devoted lover of the Eno River Watershed, and a firm believer that some of life's joys are found while playing and chilling in community.
